The Crew

SHIPMATE is an honorable term that is earned, not given.
Being called "shipmate" is the highest compliment one can earn in his life.
Shipmate is a word equal to none in our language.
It is filled with courage, love, duty, honor and country.
It is equaled by a man's love for his wife and family.
It is formed at sea in a ship with a Captain of character,
who causes "can-do" spirit to pass down the line to his
executive officer, to junior officers, to Chiefs and
Petty Officers and the crew. Slightly abridged from the book "Tin Can Man" by E.J. Jernigan
